Kathy Schrum Peck

Kathy grew up in coastal North Carolina but spent most of her summers exploring the seashores of Connecticut; from time in both places she developed a love of wildlife, shorelines and marshlands. She earned a dual Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art and English from Campbell University before studying America Literature at the University of South Carolina. Currently, she is a local elementary school art teacher, where she continues to share her love of all forms of art with the next generation of artists.
Kathy finds most of her inspiration in nature, in the practice of observing that which is often overlooked. She is equally attracted to the openness and scale of vast landscapes as she is to the fleeting, minute details that define a specific place in time. Kathy also is intrigued with the process of capturing the personalities of animal subjects, working primarily in acrylic and watercolor.
Kathy’s studio is based in Wilmington, NC, and her work has been in several local juried art shows.
